For public transport, such as city buses and coaches, companies usually use different computer programs and software to analyze traffic and route and track the position of every bus. These systems help dispatchers to provide the highest quality services, plan optimal route and ammount of vehicles on the road at a certain time. Telematics can be used to add additional information for the entire system, such as data on the actual fuel consumption and engine workload at different time intervals and route. Number of passengers and axle load on the vehicle can be checked with the addition of load control on the axle.

Advantages of the applied solutions

Telematics offers more opportunities to optimize bus fleet operations by collecting accurate data on the fuel consumption of each vehicle, tracking engine load peaks and determining the potential risk of misuse of fuel. Engine diagnosis can be performed remotely. Axle load monitoring can be used to monitor the load of each vehicle and decide on the possible optimization of routes and time, depending on the volume of passengers.
